constipation
Constipation is often simply a result of too little fiber in the diet and too little fluids
If constipation is not rectified by a change in diet, an increase in fluids or through the use of herbs that help condition and stimulate the bowel it could be related to some other cause and should be investigated by your medical practitioner
what to do
- increase dietary fibre by eating lots of fruit and vegetables
- avoid grains and substitute with more fruit and vegetables until condition resolves. Then only eat the occasional good quality, wholegrain bread
- drink at least 6-8 glasses of water a day
- herbal teas and fresh vegetable and fruit juice can be included in this amount
- make sure you do some form of exercise each day
- slippery elm powder can help soften the stool and lubricate the bowel making it easier to pass a bowel motion
- drink dandelion root tea to help stimulate the digestive system and also act as a mild laxative
