herb robert (geranium robertianum)

Herb robert is an annual herb that will propagate easily in your garden given a few considerations

This herb likes to grow in part shade in a moist soil. I was first given herb robert in an old fruit box. I left it in the box and within a short time wherever I left the box small plants would appear in that area. In this way I was able to establish a few pockets of the herb which I was then able to use as food/preventative medicine

According to Isabella Shippard (“How to Use Herbs in Your Daily Life”), herb robert  is a good source of vitamins A,B,C and the minerals calcium, potassium, magnesium, iron, phosphorus and germanium making it a valuable addition to your salads and smoothies

It is a tonic herb that helps to stabilize the physiological processes in your body. It contains the micro mineral germanium which acts as a cell oxygenator and which also stimulates electrical impulses between the cells of your body. When there is more oxygen at a cellular level it enables your body to fight diseases more efficiently. This makes Herb Robert an important herb for the treatment of adrenal fatigue and chronic fatigue syndrome

When body cells are low in oxygen they are not able to process nutrients and cannot regenerate. These anaerobic cells lead to a state of pain, disease and wayward cells that can lead to cancer

It is used in Europe as a traditional treatment of cancer. It also contains ellagic acid which has been shown to slow down the growth of tumors

When it is added  to your diet it provides antibiotic properties which can help to prevent and heal infections

It is a blood cleanser and detoxifier that can help to stabilize blood sugar levels in type 2 diabetes and has antiviral properties making  it a valuable herb for the treatment of shingles, herpes, HIV/AIDS and viral hepatitis

The leaves stems and flowers can be made into a tea, or a strong infusion can be added to a foot bath to assist with the removal of toxins from your body

It can also be used to help reduce high blood pressure, lower high cholesterol levels

Coupled with a healthy diet herb robert is a must in your garden

If you can eat a few leaves every day you will be practicing self help by using your herbs as a preventative medicine with the bonus of having an attractive and pretty addition to your garden
