when to consult with a medical practitioner
- If there is severe headache, extreme weakness, convulsions or stiffness in the neck or unexplained rashes
- If there are signs of severe irritability or confusion
- Severe breathing difficulties or chest pain
- Any unexplained bleeding from the mouth, nose or rectum
- Any heavy drooling with a sore throat or breathing difficulty
- Severe sudden onset of abdominal pain
- Incessant vomiting with signs of dehydration such as dry mouth, loss of normal skin texture, sunken eyes, sunken fontanel
- If there is vomiting after a head injury, or diarrhea after an abdominal injury
- If vomiting accompanies marked irritability, screaming, or marked lethargy
- If a bone fracture breaks through the skin or the affected limb has a deformed shape
