Logan Food Gardeners Group – Farm Visit (2019)
Mar 17 @ 9:30 am – 1:30 pm

Welcome again to selfhelp farm and beautiful Springbrook Mountain for the next group meeting on Sunday March 17

And now for “something completely different” …

Delighted to have Mike Hall join us as our guest speaker.
Mike was Ranger in Charge (RIC) of Springbrook National Park for 30 years from 1980 to 2010.

Through this period, Mike managed significant bushfire events, golf course and cablecar proposals, “political” change, the relentless impact of increases in public visitations, and the challenge of working and living in a rural community

Springbrook National Park has one the highest biodiversity in Australia. Mike brings an expert knowledge of the area’s flora and fauna, Aboriginal history and local tucker. Mike is now often sought out as a National Park guide. People even enjoy his bad jokes!

Following Mike’s session on our deck, we’d like to invite the group to our newly established Springbrook Men’s Shed and Community Garden for lunch.

Not just a Bunning’s sizzle, our super special sausage sizzle includes many sausages, lashings of onion, salad, a smorgasbord of sauces, cold drinks and tea/coffee. If you send positive affirmations, our Pauline may even bake some of her famous scones
Your lunch donation of $7pp will go towards supporting the important work of our small, community Men’s Shed

For those that feel able, Mike will then guide us to the Best of All Lookout. A short (300m), paved walk through relic beeches and dense rainforest through to outstanding views of the Mt Wollumbin volcano (Mt Warning), Byron Bay and Northern NSW, this walk is recognised as one of the best short National Park walks in Oz.

Since the group’s visit last year, the Mudgeeraba-Springbrook Road is again open after Cyclone Debbie in April 2017.
You can now arrive at Springbrook Mountain from the M1 highway from two directions.
Take Exit 69 from Nerang or take Exit 79 from Mudgeeraba.

Arrive at 9:30am for the first cuppa and yak for a 10am start

Look forward to seeing you all again!
